Report to the National Measurement System Policy Unit , Department of Trade and Industry Testing Continuous Modelling Software : Three Case Studies
نویسندگان
چکیده
This report describes three case studies of the testing of continuous modelling software. Where possible, the testing has been conducted by following the methodology outlined in the SSfM report " Testing Continuous Modelling Software " [1]. Where following this methodology has not been possible, the advice on alternative testing methods in the report [1] has been employed. The problems studied are: • Testing boundary element method software for acoustic applications • Testing finite integration technique software for electromagnetic applications • Testing software that solves a system of ODEs to model semiconductor dislocations Extracts from this report may be reproduced provided the source is acknowledged and the extract is not taken out of context.

Report to the National Measurement System Policy Unit, Department of Trade and Industry Uncertainty Evaluation in Continuous Modelling
This report describes methods for evaluating the uncertainties associated with the results of continuous models, and provides case studies of the application of these methods to real problems. The methods include sampling methods such as Monte Carlo simulation, analytical methods such as stochastic differential equations, and methods used for particular types of problem such as Structural Energ...

This workshop is being hosted by NPL as part of the Software Support for Metrology (SSfM) programme that it operates for the UK Department of Trade and Industry as part of the National Measurement System (NMS). SSfM is a metrology-focused programme designed to identify and disseminate best practice in the use of mathematics, statistics and software throughout the NMS. It concentrates on generic...
متن کاملReport to the National Measurement System Policy Unit, Department of Trade and Industry From the Software Support for Metrology Programme Testing Algorithms in Standards and METROS
Many mathematical and statistical problems that arise in metrology can be posed in such a way that they possess a unique correct solution. However, algorithms in standards or software libraries, such as METROS, may only provide an approximate solution or the solution to a nearby problem. An approximate or nearby problem is often introduced so as to give a problem that is (more) tractable, i.e.,...
متن کاملAvoidable Mortality Differences between Rural and Urban Residents During 2004–2011: A Case Study in Iran
Background Avoidable mortality as an indicator for assessing the health system performance has caught the attention of researchers for a long time. In this study we aimed to compare the health system performance using this indicator in rural and urban areas of one of Iran’s southern provinces. Methods All deaths (29916) which happened during 2004–2011 in Bushehr province were assessed. Nolte ...
متن کاملMeasurement and Modelling of the Rubber Resilience based on Ultrasonic Non-destructive Testing in Tires
In tire industry, it is very crucial to evaluate physical and mechanical properties of the rubber which is used for production of the tire, to ensure the quality of the final product. Resilience is an important property of a rubber, which cannot be evaluated through direct measurement in production cycle in this industry. Therefore, non-destructive ultrasonic testing, which has been used in man...
